Abstract

Data obtained from earthquakes that occurred in different parts of the world showed that the
non-structural elements that make up buildings were responsible for considerable damage and even loss of life. Educational establishments are institutions that must meet higher levels of earthquake resistance in accordance with the provisions of the National Seismic Prevention Standards. In this way, the need is contemplated that, in the event of destructive earthquakes, these essential constructions must continue to function. The identification and evaluation of the vulnerability of these non-structural elements in previous studies, concluded in printed reports with little communication and dissemination of results. This is why, supported by the use of new computer technologies, this article proposes a new way of communicating the physical vulnerabilities revealed in the case study building, in order to contribute to risk reduction in areas of high seismicity. In this research, it was proposed to design specific iconography and apply it in an immersive augmented reality technology software, in order to visualize it through private telephones and make the people involved in the use of the building aware of the way in which they can be affected due to the occurrence of a seismic event.
