Abstract

The 25 de Mayo Department, recognized as the main pistachio-growing region in the province
of San Juan, concentrates approximately 72% of the farms dedicated to pistachio cultivation in the region. Currently, the impact of climate change has led many local producers to seek more resilient agricultural alternatives. In this context, pistachios emerge as an ideal crop due to their high adaptability to the climatic conditions of the studied area. As a result, this situation has positive implications for the regional economy of the department, located in the south-eastern part of the province. This study is part of the "Programa de Climatología de la Provincia de San Juan," developed by the Instituto de Geografía Aplicada (IGA) at the Facultad de Filosofía, Humanidades y Artes (FFHA) of the Universidad Nacional de San Juan (UNSJ). The main objective is to analyze the climatic adaptability of the cultivation and production of the socalled “green gold.” To this end, data provided by the Dirección de Desarrollo Agroproductivo del Gobierno de San Juan and the Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria (INTA) were used. These data were processed using specific programmes such as QGIS and Google Earth,
allowing for graphical representations of pistachio adaptability to climate change
